Overview

Professional IP STLs for audio or MPX-Composite delivery

The APT MULTI-CHANNEL CODEC is a compact and efficient solution for the transport of multiple channels of audio or MPX/Composite content over IP links. It can support up to 16 channels of audio within a single unit of rackspace - and even more IP streams when using multicast or multiple unicast technology.

The 1RU frame can accommodate up to 4 AoIP modules, each equivalent to a stand-alone stereo duplex codec combining audio, dual IP transport and auxiliary data on board.

It offers the entire range of audio formats and modes meeting the audio industry’s requirements: simplex, duplex, AES/EBU, AES/EBU with analog backup, analog with HI/LO or 600Ω impedance.

A Dante Interface module option also enables direct connect to Dante or AES67 networks.

Dual Stream Redundancy

Enhanced with SureStream, the APT Multi-Channel Codec offers
dual stream redundancy for optimal reliability, zero drop outs, zero jitter, lowest latency

APT SureStream Technology is a revolutionary innovation from APT that enables broadcasters to use inexpensive IP links and still maintain professional broadcast-grade audio quality and reliability. It delivers the audio quality and reliability you expect from a T1/E1 link at a fraction of the associated cost. APT SureStream Technology also offers the added benefit of « Always-On Redundancy ». With APT SureStream technology, you can save thousands on your audio transport bills and still offer your listeners the highest quality sound.

MPX/Composite over IP

Seamless transition to digital

The AoIP Codec Module offers support for Digital MPX/Composite enabling fully digital distribution of the Digital MPX/Composite signal using an AES connection over an IP network.  This 100% digital path eliminates D/A and A/D conversions which may cause degradation of signal quality and could introduce distortion.

For maximum compatibility with existing analog MPX/Composite equipment, the AoIP card provides support for both Analog and Digital MPX transmission. Offering analog-analog, analog-digital and digital-digital MPX/Composite distribution all on a single platform provides broadcasters with a solution for the current needs and a clear and affordable migration path for the future.

Benefits of MPX/Composite over AES over IP

Cost Reduction

Cost reduction by drastically reducing the number of hardware making up the STL portion of your broadcast chain

Less Hardware

Eliminates the need for multiple hardware such as RDS encoders, stereo generators and audio processors at multiple transmitter sites as only one is needed at the studio source.

Optimal Latency

APT codecs have low latency and latency control for MPX/Composite signals.

Flexibility

  • Hybrid technologies mixing analog composite with digital composite/MPX are easily achievable.
  • Studio positioning of audio processors means easier for serving and adjustments

Bandwidth Optimization

  • Bit rate saving options: Sampling frequency adaptation allows the MPX/Composite Spectrum bandwidth to be limited to 64kHz, reducing network utilization without compromising signal quality.
  • Redundant IP transport: With SureStream added to the IP network, the FM link benefits from “always on redundancy” without adding further link latency.

Overmodulation Cancellation

A unique feature of the APT MPX/Composite Codecs is the cancellation of undesired peaks and drops of the MPX/Composite signal in order to reliably prevent overmodulation. Artefacts of this type are caused by lost packets during transmission.

AoIP Distribution

APT codecs offer the reliability, quality, and redundancy required by broadcasters for applications such as Studio-Transmitter links, studio networking and remote broadcasting/OBs. With both stereo and multi-channel audio platforms available, APT units can be deployed as a simple STL, a large-scale broadcast audio network or an audio distribution installation for commentary or in-store music.

Dante Compatible

APT Dante Module

For Modular Codec Frame

The APT Dante Network Interface enables you to connect your APT Multi-channel AoIP Codec directly to a Dante or AES67 network.

This enables the codec to become fully integrated into your in-house network ecosystem, ensuring interoperability with near-zero latency and synchronization.

With the Dante interface fitted, your AoIP multichannel codec becomes the gateway from your local Dante domain to any network destination over external networks.

Advanced Communication Solutions
